Get input from different GUI pages

I’m making a game and at some points I need to get some input from the user. At the moment, I’m using some GUI for this, but I find it a bit messy. I’m making two different GUI pages, one for the normal interface and one for the telemetry section.
The “normal” interface:

The telemetry section:

As you can see, there’s just a label on the first one, and a button on the second one.
I want to be able to use the telemetry page in some way, so I can read what the user wrote in the normal interface.
My problem is that it’s a bit “messy” to send input to the second interface page and then output it again. I’d rather put it in some kind of variable that can be read from both GUI pages.
Is it possible to achieve something like this?

In general, the only way to get a value from a particular (GUI) element is to use its id or handle.
In the second dialog, you have two options:

Store the value in a global variable, and set it with the data from the first dialog.
In the second dialog, you create a handler that gets called on closing the dialog, where you can extract the value and then put it into a global variable.

Whether one is preferable to the other is a matter of preference. Both have their weaknesses.
